CitizenM’s Tower of London hotel: The anticipated new getaway
Say hello to this unique and quirky getaway: CitizenM’s new eight-storey limestone and glass hotel.
CitizenM’s Tower of London hotel is contemporary in style, fun and characterful. This luxurious yet affordable hotel is the Dutch chain’s eighth hotel worldwide. It’s stylish exteriors and interiors brings a defining feel to Tower Hill, located directly above the underground station.
With the anticipated opening on July 11, CitizenM’s Robin Chadha says “If you are going to build a hotel right next to one of the capital’s most iconic historic buildings, with extraordinary architecture all around, you might as well make the most of it.”
The hotel has the best outdoor views of any hotel in London. From the top-floor balcony, guests can see views of the Tower of London, but the Cheesegrater, The Gherkin, The Shard, Tower Bridge and, in the distance, Canary Wharf.
The interior spaces have walls lined up with floor-to- ceiling bookshelves containing coffee-table books, sculptures and souvenirs that celebrate Britain (toy Morris Minors, miniature postboxes and vintage cricket bats) as well as contemporary art.
The hotel also showcases new work by Julian Opie, a digital interactive display by Dominic Harris and a kinetic light installation by Studio Drift.
The new London hotel has 370 bedrooms. The living rooms are furnished with pieces from Vitra, Verner Panton, Charles and Ray Eames and Jean Prouvé. The hotel includes several innovations too; at the entrance is the first coffeeM bar. The first collectionM shop is also on the list, selling items from citizenM sheets and pillows to watches, design books and rubber ducks. There’s also the new cloudM bar on the top floor, with eight meeting rooms alongside containing astonishing views.
Room prices will range from just £109 to £269.
